Going Green For a Week

Did you know that next week is vegetarian week?

Think Veganurary but for a shorter period of time and a nice way to transition to a meatless diet if that's something you've been considering. As you probably already know, I'm vegan so I'm taking part by default, but this week I'm teaming up with Green People in a little challenge between the 14th-20th of May.

Over the course of vegetarian week, I have been challenged to change up my beauty routine and use all natural products approved by the vegetarian society. My skincare routine is pretty natural, but I haven't delved into the natural makeup just yet as I'm still using up old products that I purchased months ago.

I have been trying out some of Green People's makeup products leading up to the challenge and so far I've been very pleasantly surprised. I've put off natural makeup for some time for a few reasons. Firstly I wasn't convinced that they would work as well as the old products I loved (I was wrong), and honestly, I didn't know where to start! I remember it was pretty overwhelming when I transitioned cruelty-free brands two years ago. I didn't know what brand to start with, and going natural has felt very similar. There's going to be a lot of trial and error, and a lot of researching going on while I make the slow transition to all natural, but Green People have been the first jump very easy for me.

I have been obsessed with their Volumising mascara, it's exactly what I've been looking for! I have fairly long, naturally thick lashes and I don't like heavy and clumpy mascaras. I wanted something that makes them look like my own lashes but better. Long and naturally dark for everyday use, but something that I can layer well for a bit more definition when I need it - and I found just that. My lashes look so natural but perfectly defined with one or two layers, but if I wanted a little extra volume this layers so well for a bit more drama.

I'm not a foundation girl, I won't put the stuff near my face and I'm lucky enough to have a clear complexion most of the time. For days where I need a little extra help to wake up my under eyes or spot conceal I've been really enjoying their Blemish Banish concealer. It's a lightweight coverage concealer and blemish treatment in one so its perfect for those with problematic skin. I just use a really light layer of this over any blemishes or discolouration on my skin to even out my skin tone. You can also mix this with your moisturiser for a very light coverage.

Funnily enough, I'm not a lipstick girl either, so I was pleasantly surprised when I liked their lipstick in Damask Rose. I always like to apply lipstick lightly with my finger so it acts more like a tint and I love this shade. It's that perfect 'my lips, but better' shade and I can imagine this will suit pretty much everyone. It's a matte formula so it lasts throughout the day and it doesn't dry out your lips!

Over the next week, I'm going to be changing up my typical routine and being more mindful to reach for the brands I know are made with natural ingredients. Lush, RMS beauty and Green People are my go-to, but I'm also going to spend this week branching out and exploring other natural makeup brands out there. Let me know of any brands I should check out and if you're going to be joining me in this challenge or vegetarian week!
