Prevent Dry Skin The Natural Way // Blogmas Day 6

Winter is in full swing and my skin is suffering the consequences.
You've heard me say it before, my skin suffers during the colder months. As soon as the temperature drops the flakes start appearing and my lips that chapping so cracking down on my dry skin routine was essential.

I've learned over the years what my skin likes during each season, and after a lot of trial and error I found harmony in this skincare miracle routine.

I always remove my makeup with the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm. I have sensitive skin so I love to use something that is soothing and hydrating to remove makeup at the end of the day. I find this helps to condition my skin as well as remove all traces of dirt and makeup without drying out my skin, which is my biggest pet peeve about some cleansers.

I'll then follow with an exfoliator and this changes depending on how my skin is feeling that day. Typically I use the Frank Body Creamy Face Scrub which is gentle on my skin, but still gritty enough to remove the unwanted dry skin. If my skin has a few breakouts or I feel like it needs a refresh i'll use Ocean Salt from Lush which has been a staple in my skincare for years. Its a salt based scrub so its harsher than the Frank one, but it does have softening properties like avocados so it doesn't dry out my skin. I find that this brings my skin back to normal if its having a freak out. Once I've exfoliated my face i'll scrub my lips with the frank body lip scrub.

Every other day I like to use my Clarisonic with the radiance head to give my skin a deep clean and further prevent dry skin. I don't feel the need to use this everyday but its an essential in my routine. My favourite facial cleanser to use this with is the Youth to the People's Age Prevention Cleanser because it lathers up really well and leaves my skin glowing.

Once i've exfoliated I'll use one of two moisturisers. In the mornings I like to use the Frank body daily moisturiser (no surprises here) and in the evening I like to use something a bit heavier like Celestial from Lush. Celestial is a lot thicker than my daily moisteriser so its perfect for hydrating and soothing my skin over night. Throughout the day I constantly re apply my sugar lip balm from Fresh.

If I stick to this routine I find my skin stays hydrated and flake free throughout the winter. What are some your winter skincare essentials?
