Strawberry and Banana Breakfast Smoothie // Vegan


 Brunch? I love brunch. Breakfast? Not so much. 

 I will take the extra ten minutes in bed over eating breakfast, but instantly regret it later on at work when I start getting hungry hangry with 4 hours to go until lunch. Whenever this happens I instantly crave unhealthy, high fat foods so I'm making a conscious effort to eat breakfast when I can.
 I've mentioned before that I am not a morning person, at all. I will leave it to the last possible second before I have to get up which doesn't give me a lot of time to prepare are proper meal, which is how I came up with this breakfast smoothie recipe.

Fruit smoothies are a fantastic start to your day, they are full of vitamins and natural sugars which energize your body and brain. The only downside is that fruit digests very quickly, especially if you follow a plant based diet, so I often find that within the hour I'm hungry again. I have found that a great way to bulk out your smoothies is to use caloric dense fruit, seeds and oats. Oats are slow releasing energy, so you will feel fuller for longer and seeds add in extra goodness and vitamins.

two frozen bananas
frozen strawberries
coconut or soya yogurt 
coconut water
 oats
chia seeds
flaxseeds
cacao nibs
*coconut bowl is unnecessary, but aesthetically pleasing 



You can change up this recipe by adding in different fruits and seeds to whatever takes your fancy. I often replace the banana for frozen mango or switch out the strawberries for whatever berries are in season.
